From factory to campus
1940
State garment factory No. 5 was planned in December 1940 - one of the first industrial facilities built during the Soviet era in Vilnius.
Design work began that same year, but the construction project was continually revised, mostly to cut costs and conserve building materials.

1944–1945
In 1944, during battles for the railway junction, aerial bombardment destroyed the wooden structures of one factory building.
The building was damaged again in 1945 when a powerful explosion occurred at the railway station. That same year, reconstruction of two factory buildings began.

1947
State garment factory Lelija opened in July 1947.
Its first products were made by invited home seamstresses - the factory then employed 146 workers. New wings were built between 1948 and 1950, designed to house 200 to 400 sewing machines. A men's suit tailoring workshop was established in 1950.

2022
In December 2022, the former factory complex was listed in the Cultural Heritage Register.
Today it is being transformed into Tech Zity Vilnius.

2026
Phase I of Tech Zity Vilnius opened in 2026.

A second life for an industrial quarter
The former Lelija garment factory is becoming a technology campus: existing buildings are being renovated, and original details - from machinery to furniture - are being reused in new interiors. Window shapes and arrangements, interior columns, and old factory tiles are all being preserved.
Circular economy principle
Historic buildings are preserved and modernised, original materials are reused - targeting up to 50% lower CO₂ emissions.
Green architecture
Climbing plants on facades, landscaped inner courtyard spaces.
City centre, car-free
Public transport, cycling infrastructure, and walkability.
Architecture
The campus is designed by three architecture teams: DO Architects (L building), A2SM Architects (H building), and Audrius Ambrasas Architects. General contractor: Gilesta. Developer: UAB Project Lilium.
